Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Beberapa tahun belakangan, kopi naik daun karena banyak penikmatnya. Bahkan ada yang bilang 'kalau belum ngopi ada yang kurang'. Ternyata, kebiasaan minum kopi dalam jumlah wajar punya manfaat baik untuk hati.

“Salah satu anggapan yang paling sering muncul adalah bahwa kopi dapat merusak hati. Pada konsumsi yang wajar, bukti ilmiah justru menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi kopi berkaitan dengan risiko fibrosis hati yang lebih rendah,” kata Dosen Fakultas Kedokteran dan Gizi IPB University, dr Widya Khairunnisa Sarkowi.

Sejumlah penelitian menunjukkan bahwa orang yang rutin mengonsumsi kopi cenderung berisiko lebih rendah mengalami fibrosis atau jaringan parut pada hati serta sirosis.

Salah satu penelitian pada pasien perlemakan hati, konsumsi kopi dikaitkan dengan risiko fibrosis yang lebih rendah sekitar 35 persen.

“Penelitian oleh Bravi et al juga menemukan bahwa konsumsi kopi menurunkan risiko penyakit hati, termasuk kanker hati, meskipun penelitian yang ada masih perlu dikonfirmasi melalui penelitian dengan subjek yang lebih besar,” kata Widya mengutip laman IPB.

Meski demikian, Widya ada batas aman minum kopi. Konsumsi kafein hingga sekitar 300–400 mg per hari atau setara 2–3 cangkir kopi masih dapat ditoleransi orang dewasa sehat.

“Untuk sebagian besar orang dewasa sehat, FDA (Food and Drug Administration) menyebut konsumsi kafein hingga sekitar 400 mg per hari umumnya tidak memiliki efek negatif,” jelasnya.

Lalu, pada orang yang mengalami kondisi tertentu, seperti jantung berdebar, gangguan irama jantung, sulit tidur, mudah gelisah, asam lambung, maupun GERD.

“Pada ibu hamil, kafein disarankan tidak melebihi 200 mg per hari dari seluruh sumber, termasuk kopi, teh, dan cokelat,” imbuhnya.

Waspada Gula dan Krimer

Widya mengingatkan kopi dengan banyak gula, sirup, krimer, atau susu tinggi kalori dapat meningkatkan asupan gula dan kalori secara signifikan, sehingga berkontribusi terhadap masalah metabolik, termasuk resistensi insulin.

Maka dari itu, tetap menjaga pola makan, berat badan, dan aktivitas fisik tetap jauh lebih penting bagi kesehatan liver.

“Fondasi utama kesehatan hati tetap melalui menjaga berat badan sehat, makan bergizi seimbang, berolahraga rutin, membatasi alkohol, serta mengontrol diabetes, kolesterol, dan penyakit metabolik lainnya,” katanya.

Ia menambahkan, penurunan berat badan sekitar 5–10 persen pada orang yang kelebihan berat badan dapat berdampak positif pada hati.
